This was the original post:
During my days as a raw recruit I remember thinking “Our Sergeant looks just like a bulldog …a battle-hardened dog of war”.
That bulldog kept us alive during training.
This drawing isn’t a depiction of our “Sarge”.
Why this random thought about something that seems like a lifetime ago…
I listened to Metallica’s “For whom the bell tolls” yesterday.

Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside
Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey
On the fight, for they are right, yes, by who’s to say?
For a hill men would kill, why? They do not know
Stiffened wounds test there their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know

Take a look to the sky just before you die
It is the last time you will
Blackened claw massive roar fills the crumbling sky
Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry
Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery
He hears the silence so loud
Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be
Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see

For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tolls

For some reason I saw a picture with a bulldog soldier in my mind’s eye… I tried my best to get it rendered as a cartoon.
I hope you have a great Friday, thanks for stopping by!
Play it loud!
