“I don’t have time” is one of the most ubiquitous and jaded phrases ever conceived.
Within any attempt at communication this phrase can only be an ironic time-waster in itself.
When did we lose the ability to say “I will get back to you on that one, but I can’t do it this very instant”?
If your hands are literally tied or you’re defusing a bomb rather say “I’m kinda in the middle of something”.
But don’t insult my intelligence by saying “there wasn’t any time to call me back”.

I know you “had time”, because you found a few minutes for checking stock prices online.
You had enough time for replying “LOL” and “WTF” to a funny video you just received on your phone.
You had enough time to share that same video with others… and respond to their replies.

Be practical next time. Simply tell me that you didn’t have an answer for me at a certain point in time.
If you didn’t have the energy to talk to me about something serious you could simply have used those words,
“I didn’t have the energy to chat about something that heavy, I’ll get back to you…”.
In the meantime I did receive the video you sent. Thank you… I’ll watch it when I get the time.
